the origin story of
HEARTWOOD
Anatomy of a Tree
California coastal redwoods are unique to our region. New growths sprouted from the roots of the mother tree to form growing circles, aka “fairy rings.” When Sarah and Steph stood in the center of the redwood fairy ring at the Santa Cruz amphitheater, we felt the magic of these wise old giants (+150 years old). Their resilient attributes protect themselves as well as the whole community. The Heartwood at the center of the tree gives these Beasts their remarkable height and unwavering strength to withstand all of Earth’s elements and surprises. As we grow together, our story resonates with the Redwood and no better surroundings would have suited our special day.

Bumble for the Win
Our dating profiles put our true values forward and left no surprises. Sarah is down for cider donuts and will brew coffee everyday. Steph will always gravitate to bodies of water and pick up bricks. It’s still about the looks and doing fun stuff is our brand.
Our first dates included coastal hikes, a park concert and walking the beach so it was only fitting for us to end up in Santa Cruz for our wedding celebrations. We look forward to sharing our celebrations and having you at the inaugural Heartwood Wedding Festival.
